Casual Multi-Skilled Driver / Waste Transfer Station Yard Hand

Are you a hands-on all-rounder who is happy to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in?

We are looking for a reliable, flexible and hardworking Casual Multi-Skilled Driver / Waste Transfer Station Yard Hand to join our team.

This is a diverse, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day operations of our business. One day you might be driving a heavy rigid truck, the next assisting in the yard, performing prestart safety checks, bin checks and cleaning or collecting and delivering vehicles for servicing.

We need someone who enjoys variety, takes direction well and understands that being a valuable team member means doing whatever reasonable operational task is needed on the day.

About the role

Working under the direction of our operations team, your duties will include:

- Providing operational support when other team members are absent.

- Driving and operating both MR and HR rear lift vehicles.

- Prestart maintenance checks on vehicles including truck washing.

- Rear lift bin assembly and maintenance including bin washing.

- Hard waste collection.

- Assisting with daily waste transfer station and yard operations.

- Sorting, handling and moving waste and materials.

- Collecting and delivering company vehicles to and from servicing and repair facilities.

- General yard work, cleaning, housekeeping and site maintenance.

This is not a single-task driving position. You will be expected to move between driving and yard duties as directed, with work priorities determined by the needs of the business.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be someone who:

- Holds a current Heavy Rigid (HR) driver's licence.

- Is reliable, punctual and takes their work responsibilities seriously.





- Is flexible and comfortable performing different duties throughout the day.

- Is happy to take direction and get on with the tasks allocated to them.

- Understands that no two days may be the same and that operational priorities can change.

- Has a strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

- Can work independently when required and contribute positively to a team.

- Is comfortable undertaking physical, hands-on work.

- Takes pride in maintaining clean, safe vehicles, equipment and work areas.

Experience in waste management, transport, logistics, construction, yard operations or general labouring will be highly regarded. Experience operating mobile plant is an advantage, provided the appropriate licences and competencies are held.

Important to understand

This role will suit someone who genuinely enjoys variety and is comfortable with changing duties and working hours. Some shifts will be relatively short, (four hours), while other days may involve longer hours due to additional work, deliveries, collections or staff absences.

We need someone who is dependable, adaptable and willing to work where directed. This is not a role where you choose the tasks you prefer to perform; the day's priorities will be set by management to meet business requirements.
