Turn Your Passion into Purpose!
We’re looking for Disability Support Workers to join our team across Newcastle, Maitland the Hunter and Central Coast. With casual shifts in Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Community Access, you’ll help people live life on their own terms.
About Us
Positive Shepherd Support Services is a new name, but we’re a family-owned team with decades of experience in disability and child & family services. We’re committed to a safe, inclusive and supportive workplace where staff and participants both feel valued.
Guided by our H.I.K.E values (Humility, Integrity, Kindness and Empathy), we deliver person-led NDIS support that walks alongside every participant.
About the Role
You’ll support people with physical and psychosocial disabilities, in their homes and out in the community. You’ll be someone who genuinely cares, communicates clearly and can be relied on.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support that builds independence and everyday living skills.
- Assist with personal care, hygiene, meal preparation and light household tasks.
- Support participants with community activities and social outings.
- Provide medication support and manual handling within your training.
- Follow support plans and safety procedures.
- Keep accurate shift notes.
Essential Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (through Service NSW).
- Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- First Aid and CPR certificates.
- NDIS Worker Orientation and Supporting Effective Communication modules (free, online).
- NSW driver licence and a comprehensively insured car for work use.
- Internet access for rosters and shift notes.
No WWCC, First Aid/CPR or NDIS modules yet? You can complete them before you start.
Desirable
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), or willingness to work towards it – we’ll support your training.
- Experience in disability, mental health or community services.
- Study or qualifications in health, allied health or community services.
- Lived experience of disability or mental health, your own or as a carer.
What We Offer
- SCHADS Award pay based on qualifications and experience, plus km allowance.
- Flexible casual shifts that work around your life.
- Training support and a small, family-owned team.
Our success starts with YOU.
To apply, click Apply and include your resume, a short cover letter and your availability (days and shift types).
