POSITION OVERVIEW

In your role as a Senior Mechanical Fitter you will be responsible for contributing to building our chillers, including brazing and fit-up. An attention to detail and an ability to work as part of a team are essential, as well as a mechanical aptitude, good brazing skills and experience using most power tools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead and coordinate fitting and assembly activities to ensure production targets, quality standards and delivery schedules are achieved.

- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and on-the-job training to apprentices, trade assistants and mechanical fitters.

- Assist supervisors with workload planning, job allocation and prioritisation of manufacturing activities.

- Conduct final quality inspections and verify completed work meets engineering drawings, specifications and company standards.

- Troubleshoot complex mechanical assembly, fit-up and brazing issues and implement effective corrective actions.

- Support the introduction of new products, manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Review engineering drawings, identify potential manufacturing concerns and provide practical feedback to Engineering and Production teams.

- Monitor adherence to safe work procedures and proactively promote a strong safety culture within the workshop.

- Assist with investigations of quality and safety incidents and contribute to preventative action plans.

- Ensure production documentation, quality records, vacuum records and inspection reports are accurately completed and maintained.

- Act as a technical escalation point for complex assembly and manufacturing issues.

- Support stock control activities, material identification and verification of critical components.

- Participate in toolbox meetings and contribute recommendations to improve productivity,



quality and workplace safety.

- Assist the Fitting Supervisor in assessing employee competency and identifying training and development requirements.

- Serve as a relief Team Leader or Supervisor when required.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

- Minimum 5+ years post-trade experience in mechanical fitting, manufacturing or HVAC equipment assembly.

- Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring tradespeople and apprentices.

- Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical documentation.

- Proven troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

- Sound understanding of quality systems, safety procedures and continuous improvement principles.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and train others.

- Review and verify BOMs, work orders, production orders and material availability before and during assembly

- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, including email management, calendar coordination, task follow-up and qualified communication.

- Prepare clear status updates and communicate risks, delays, corrective actions and outstanding issues to relevant stakeholders.
