Fitzroy North

Ideal prospect to join a premier specialist surgery practice:

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join Queens Parade Specialists, providing clinical support to our specialist plastic surgeon in our Fitzroy North rooms.

Working closely with Dr Jeremy Richardson, you will support patients throughout their surgical journey, with a focus on post-operative care, wound healing, scar management and patient education, as well as assisting with minor surgical procedures performed in-clinic under local anaesthetic.

As our practice continues to grow, there may also be opportunities to expand into complementary skin treatments to support our surgical patients and their outcomes. We would particularly love to hear from nurses who are also qualified Dermal Clinicians, although this is by no means essential. For the right person, there is scope to develop this area of the role over time.

Permanent part-time | 2-3 days per week (Tuesdays to Thursdays)

Key Responsibilities

- Provide post-operative wound care, dressing changes, suture and staple removal, and scar management.

- Deliver post-operative Healite therapy and educate patients on wound care, recovery expectations, skincare and scar management products.

- Conduct pre-operative and post-operative phone calls to prepare patients for procedures, check recovery and address concerns.

- Monitor healing, identify potential complications and escalate concerns to Dr Jeremy Richardson as appropriate.

- Assist the specialist plastic surgeon with in-clinic procedures, including preparing treatment rooms,

instruments and equipment, and maintaining aseptic technique.

- Take clinical photographs in accordance with patient consent, privacy and confidentiality requirements.

- Maintain accurate clinical notes and patient records, manage appointments and associated paperwork, and respond to patient enquiries.

- Undertake instrument sterilisation, autoclaving and processing, and assist with clinical stock management.

- There may be opportunities to contribute to the development of our growing non-surgical treatment offering, providing complementary pre- and post-operative skin treatments to support our plastic surgery patients and optimise their outcomes. Experience or an interest in treatments such as microneedling and skin therapies would be an advantage, with scope to develop this area as the practice grows.

About You

Essential:

- Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse.

- Experience in surgical, day procedure, wound care or a similar clinical environment.

- Competence in wound care, dressing selection, suture removal and infection control.

- Team work – collaborative, cooperative, supportive, professional, innovative, accountable.

- Excellent communication skills, a compassionate bedside manner and strong attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and contribute positively to a professional team.

Desirable, but not essential:

- Experience in plastic surgery, dermatology, general practice, day surgery or cosmetic surgery.

- Familiarity with Xestro, Healite therapy and scar management products.

- A Dermal Clinician qualification or an interest in developing skills in aesthetic treatments.

- Experience or an interest in skin treatments, microneedling or dermal therapies.

The Opportunity

- Comprehensive training and ongoing career development, including internal and external education sessions.

- Exposure to specialist plastic surgery, scar management and non-surgical aesthetic treatments.

- For dual-qualified Registered Nurses and Dermal Clinicians, the chance to expand into the growing cosmetic side of the practice.

- Complimentary Healite therapy treatment and access to Synergie Skincare at cost price.

- Convenient Fitzroy North location, close to public transport, cafés and shops, with free on-site parking.

If you are passionate about patient care and keen to develop your expertise in plastic surgery and aesthetics, we welcome your application.

Immediate start available. Only short-listed applicants will be contacted.

Remuneration negotiable in line with experience.
