About the role

NT Christian Schools is seeking an Acting Assistant Principal to join our Gawa campus on Elcho Island in the Northern Territory. This is a fixed term, full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a remote educational setting. As Acting Assistant Principal, you will provide strategic leadership and support to the Principal in managing day-to-day school operations, whilst contributing to the development and implementation of school policies and educational initiatives. This role is essential to ensuring the effective functioning of our school and the delivery of quality education to our students in this distinctive community.

Key responsibilities

- Supporting the Principal in the overall management and administration of the school

- Overseeing student discipline, welfare and pastoral care programmes

- Managing staff scheduling, supervision and career development initiatives

- Coordinating curriculum delivery and educational quality assurance

- Liaising with parents, carers and community members to foster positive school-community relationships

- Ensuring compliance with education policies, regulations and school procedures

- Attending and contributing to leadership team meetings and strategic planning sessions

- Managing specific school portfolios or responsibilities as delegated by the Principal

- Deputising for the Principal in their absence

What we're looking for

- A current teaching qualification and relevant teaching experience in primary or secondary education

- Demonstrated school leadership experience, ideally in a management or assistant principal capacity

- Strong understanding of educational best practices, curriculum frameworks and student wellbeing principles

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders





- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions under pressure

- Knowledge of remote or Indigenous education contexts is highly desirable

- Current Working with Children clearance or willingness to obtain one

- Ability to thrive in a tight-knit community and demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect
