About the role
I’m partnering with QLEWN to bring you this exciting opportunity for a values-driven leader to make a meaningful contribution to the development of Queensland’s Lived Experience workforce. Reporting to the QLEWN Management Committee, the General Manager will provide executive leadership across strategy, organisational performance, stakeholder engagement, workforce development and financial sustainability.

You will work in partnership with QLEWN members, the Management Committee, government and sector stakeholders to translate the organisation’s purpose into practical outcomes. Balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution, you will oversee current projects and consultants while strengthening the systems, partnerships and funding opportunities needed to support QLEWN’s longer-term ambitions.

The role will suit someone who can navigate a complex stakeholder environment, build trust across diverse groups and progress important work in an evolving organisation. You will be comfortable setting direction while also taking responsibility for the operational detail required to turn priorities into action. A central focus will be strengthening QLEWN’s position as Queensland’s dedicated Lived-Living Experience workforce peak, while developing opportunities for the workforce to connect, grow, influence and contribute to positive change across services and systems.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the implementation and ongoing development of QLEWN’s strategic direction, priorities and organisational growth.
- Advance the recognition of Lived Experience expertise within policy, service design, governance, workforce development and systems reform.
- Identify emerging workforce priorities, sector developments and opportunities for QLEWN to contribute at state and national levels.
- Represent QLEWN and its members at relevant government, sector, research and community forums.
- Strengthen connection, participation and collaboration across QLEWN’s membership and workforce networks.
- Ensure member perspectives and emerging priorities inform strategy, advocacy and organisational initiatives.
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships across government, community, research, peak body and sector environments.
- Foster co-design, co-production, co-creation and shared decision-making in organisational and sector initiatives.

- Identify opportunities to collaborate with other Lived-Living Experience workforce organisations and contribute to emerging national initiatives.
- Work closely with the Management Committee to support strategic planning, governance and sound decision-making.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of organisational policies, procedures, reporting and risk management frameworks.
- Oversee contractors, consultants and project partners to ensure work aligns with QLEWN’s values, priorities and commitments.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and resource management.
- Identify and pursue funding, partnership and business development opportunities aligned with QLEWN’s purpose.
- Develop strategies to strengthen organisational sustainability and diversify potential revenue streams.
- Provide accurate financial and performance reporting to the Management Committee.

Skills, Experience and Qualities

You will be a collaborative and purposeful leader who understands that meaningful organisational progress is built through relationships, sound judgement and a clear sense of purpose. You can move between strategic thinking and practical delivery, bringing people together while maintaining momentum and accountability. You will bring:

- A genuine commitment to advancing the Lived-Living Experience workforce and the ability to draw on lived-living experience purposefully, ethically and strategically.
- Experience shaping direction, progressing organisational priorities and navigating complex organisational, community, health, human services or policy environments.
- Highly developed relationship-building, communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility across diverse stakeholder groups.
- An understanding of how to strengthen participation, collaboration, workforce capability and leadership pathways.
- Experience supporting governance, advising committees or senior leaders,

managing risk and overseeing organisational performance.
- Experience with budgets, resource management, funding opportunities and strategies that support organisational viability and growth.
- The ability to identify opportunities, develop productive partnerships and represent an organisation and its community with credibility.
- A cooperative approach to leading contractors, consultants and project teams, fostering inclusive and psychologically safe working environments.
