About Liquor & Gaming NSW

We are at the pointy end of industry supervision for the liquor, gaming, wagering, casino and registered club sectors in NSW. If you want a seat at the table, whether we’re reviewing the latest facial recognition technology; advising Government on gambling reform policy; developing initiatives to increase live music venues and festivals; or investigating unlawful liquor or gambling inducement practices, we want to talk to you.

We’re enabling vibrant and dynamic hospitality and racing environments that are safe and responsible, and our regulatory efforts are evidenced-informed, coordinated, and targeted to where the risks are greatest.

Our work is as diverse as our people and the NSW communities we serve. See what it’s like to work with us!

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Senior Investigator to join our team. In this role, you will administer authorised legislation through effective, risk-based investigative and enforcement activities under the liquor, gaming, clubs, casino and/or wagering legislation to protect the public, businesses, and communities in NSW.

Key Responsibilities:

- Undertake multi-faceted compliance and investigation activities through the delivery of risk based regulatory programs to ensure and enhance compliance.

- Support and participate in proactive compliance operations, educating industry participants on their rights and obligations, while monitoring and ensuring compliance.

- Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders to optimise regulatory outcomes and minimise negative impacts.

- Advise customers on investigation outcomes, keeping them informed of any actions being taken.

- Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and procedures to ensure exemplary regulatory practices for the NSW community.

- Knowledge of investigative methodologies, evidence collection, interviewing techniques and report writing.

- Gather, review, and analyse evidence, preparing and maintaining comprehensive records, documents,

and reports to recommend appropriate actions to decision-makers and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.

- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within required timeframes.

- A commitment to integrity, accountability and ethical decision-making.

To be successful you will have:

- Relevant experience in conducting formal investigations or working in a similar regulatory or compliance field.

- A strong understanding of legislation, policy, and procedures in relevant industries.

If you are passionate about contributing to the protection of the public and businesses in NSW through regulatory practices and investigations, we’d love to hear from you!
