The Team & Role
The Special Care Nursery at Sandringham Hospital is an 8-bed Level 3 Nursery providing ongoing neonatal care, including short-term CPAP support. We care for unwell babies from our busy birth unit and maternity ward, as well as step-down neonates from tertiary NICUs.
We are proud members of the Bayside Health network, working collaboratively across sites to deliver high-quality neonatal care and support babies to receive care as close to home as possible.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse or Midwife to join the Special Care Nursery at Sandringham Hospital. You will work within a motivated multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality,
family-centred care to newborns requiring special or ongoing neonatal support.
This role requires a nurse who is able to work autonomously, communicate effectively with families and the healthcare team, and manage competing priorities in a dynamic clinical environment. Discharge coordination is a key component of the role, with a strong focus on care planning, parent education, and facilitating safe, timely discharge to support family reunification.
Our unit operates under a Family Centred Care model, partnering with parents to ensure the best possible outcomes for babies and families.
