The Company
Our client is a sophisticated and well invested food manufacturer with a solid reputation for quality and a long term commitment to its Australian operations. They’re continuing to invest in their engineering capability at their Laverton site and are now looking for an Electrical / Automation Reliability Engineer to join their Asset Care team.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you’ll be central to lifting the site’s operational performance. Working closely with Production and Operations, you’ll find the root causes of downtime, stabilise processes and turn data into practical improvements that keep lines running efficiently. This is a practical, plant based role where you’ll spend most of your time on the floor troubleshooting automation and electrical issues, and you’ll see the results of your work in better uptime, output and cost.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with Production and Operations to understand performance issues and deliver lasting improvements in line efficiency and reliability
- Collecting and analysing maintenance and asset performance data to optimise the maintenance program, and presenting your findings to stakeholders
- Leading failure investigations and root cause analysis, and researching solutions where trends emerge
- Stabilising manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Developing short and medium term asset care plans, backed by financial and risk analysis, to optimise the total life cost of assets
- Maintaining accurate asset information to support decision making and service levels
- Acting as a subject matter expert for the wider engineering team and championing a reliability culture across the site
- Ensuring safe work practices through JSEAs, work permits and compliance with state and federal electrical and mechanical requirements
- Working with Quality, Supply Chain, Finance and HSE, as well as equipment suppliers and contractors
Your Background
You’ll be a motivated engineer who enjoys solving problems at the source and can show the impact you’ve made on plant performance.
You’ll bring:
- A degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
- At least 3 years’ experience in a maintenance and reliability focused team, ideally in FMCG or food manufacturing
- A proven track record of improving reliability, reducing unplanned downtime and lowering costs
- Strong automation capability, with Rockwell PLC and Ignition SCADA experience highly regarded
- Exposure to Lean or other continuous improvement tools (an advantage)
- Strong analytical skills, paired with the confidence to communicate, present and influence at all levels, especially with production teams
- The drive to work on your own initiative and take ownership of outcomes
What’s On Offer
- The chance to join a well invested site where engineering is valued and reliability is a genuine priority
- A role with real influence over asset strategy and plant performance
- A collaborative engineering team led by a Head of Engineering focused on long term improvement
- A competitive salary package and ongoing professional development
