Port Melbourne

Onyx Gaming is a trusted operational advisor and a leading force in Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) systems. Our commitment to excellence and innovation has made us a key player in the gaming industry, empowering hospitality venues across Australia with cutting-edge solutions.

Ready to shape what’s next in cloud networking? We’re looking for a Lead Cloud Network Engineer who combines deep networking expertise with an automation-first mindset. Take ownership of the connections that keep our business and venues running—and help drive our next stage of cloud network transformation.

About The Role

Reporting to the Principal Infrastructure & Platform Engineer, you’ll design, build and optimise secure, resilient networks across our cloud and on-premises environments. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you’ll shape architecture, lead SD-WAN deployments and bring Infrastructure as Code to life, while mentoring our operational team and partnering with development, security and project teams.

In This Role, You Will

- Shape and deliver hybrid network architecture that connects our cloud platforms, data centres and venues securely and reliably.
- Build and optimise AWS networking services, including VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Route 53 and CloudFront.
- Lead SD-WAN deployments and manage Cisco and Meraki infrastructure to improve application performance and multi-site connectivity.
- Strengthen network security through next-generation firewalls, cloud security controls and secure connectivity design.
- Automate network provisioning, testing and remediation using Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and improve network availability, disaster recovery,

performance and cost efficiency.
- Mentor colleagues, document clear network designs and support governance, ISO 27001 compliance and continuous improvement.

About You

You’re a hands-on network specialist who enjoys turning complex challenges into secure, practical solutions. You think strategically, take ownership from design through to production, and look for opportunities to replace manual processes with reliable automation. Just as importantly, you communicate clearly, share your expertise and bring people along with you—whether you’re explaining an architecture decision or leading the response to a critical issue.

Skills & Qualifications

- A degree in Network Systems or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
- Strong experience designing and managing enterprise networks across cloud and on-premises environments, with advanced networking protocol knowledge.
- Hands-on expertise in AWS networking, Cisco equipment, Meraki, SD-WAN and next-generation firewalls.
- Practical DevOps and automation skills, including Git, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK, plus Python or Ansible.
- Experience with secure, highly available architectures, container networking,

monitoring tools and cloud security controls, including AWS IAM.
- An understanding of ISO 27001 requirements, network governance and opportunities to optimise cost and performance.
- Preferred: relevant industry or cloud networking certifications, such as AWS Advanced Networking – Specialty, Azure Network Engineer or Google Cloud Skilled Cloud Network Engineer.

What We Offer

- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Flexible working hours.
- A collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Opportunity to work with a passionate and talented team.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to support your wellbeing
- Professional development opportunities through our L&D; program and career growth.
- One paid Community Day each year to volunteer or support a cause you care about.
- Barista coffee machine, quarterly celebrations and regular team events.

The successful applicant must be eligible to obtain a VGCCC licence and meet other applicable regulatory licensing requirements and be willing to participate in responsible service of gambling (RSG) programs.

Ready to take the lead on our cloud network journey? Apply with your resume and a cover letter outlining the networking expertise, automation experience and technical leadership you’ll bring to the role.
