The best public spaces don't just happen. They're planned, designed and delivered with purpose.
At the City of Armadale, we're investing in the streetscapes, parks, reserves and community spaces that will support our city for decades to come. We're looking for a Senior Landscape Architect to help lead that journey.
This is a strategic and hands-on role where you'll influence everything from long-term landscape planning through to the design and delivery of major capital projects. You'll work with a diverse range of stakeholders, guide technical standards and help create places that are attractive, functional, sustainable and valued by the community.
If you enjoy balancing big-picture thinking with project delivery and want to leave a lasting mark on a growing city, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
As the City's Senior Landscape Architect, you will lead the development of landscape strategies, provide technical leadership across a range of projects and oversee the delivery of landscape capital works from concept through to construction.
You'll play an important role in shaping the City's public realm while supporting the delivery of safe, sustainable and community-focused outcomes.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the development of citywide strategies for streetscapes, reserves and community facilities.
- Deliver landscape capital projects from concept design through to tender and construction.
- Oversee the preparation and review of detailed landscape drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to Landscape Architects and project teams.
- Work closely with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to achieve high-quality project outcomes.
- Support procurement, tender evaluation and contract administration activities.
- Review subdivision and development proposals and provide specialist landscape design advice.
- Engage with the community and stakeholders to help inform project planning and delivery.
- Ensure design solutions incorporate sustainable asset management, safety in design and environmental best practice principles.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of landscape standards, processes and strategic planning initiatives.
Your work will influence how people experience Armadale's parks, streets, recreation spaces and civic environments for years to come.
About You
You're an experienced Landscape Architect who can comfortably move between strategy, design leadership and project delivery. You enjoy solving complex problems, mentoring others and turning ideas into practical, enduring community assets.
You will thrive in this role if you:
- Hold tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture or an equivalent discipline.
- Have substantial experience leading landscape design projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Can develop strategic plans as well as oversee detailed design documentation.
- Have strong technical knowledge across landscape design, construction and public realm projects.
- Understand asset lifecycle planning and sustainable landscape outcomes.
- Can confidently engage with contractors, consultants, developers and internal stakeholders.
- Have experience reviewing technical drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
- Communicate clearly and can present ideas, recommendations and technical information to a variety of audiences.
- Enjoy mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
- Hold a current C Class Driver's Licence and can obtain a National Police Certificate.
