The Organisation
The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The VACCA team is committed to the organisation’s visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.
Our strength lies with our people.
About the role
Join a culturally strong and supportive team at The Orange Door Hub, providing a welcoming first response for Aboriginal women, children, men and families seeking safety, support and connection. You will undertake intake and assessment, respond to immediate needs, provide short term support, and help connect community members with services that strengthen wellbeing, healing and self determination. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will help create positive outcomes for Aboriginal families when support matters most.
About You
You are passionate about supporting Aboriginal children, families and community through a culturally safe, strengths based and trauma informed approach. You have experience providing intake, assessment and short term case management support, including responding to people experiencing crisis and identifying immediate safety and wellbeing needs.
You are confident using MARAM to assess risk, develop support plans, and connect families with the services and resources that best meet their needs.
You build strong and respectful relationships with Aboriginal people, champion self determination, and work collaboratively with colleagues, community organisations and partner services to deliver culturally responsive support.
You contribute to creating a welcoming and culturally safe Hub environment, provide guidance to help strengthen culturally responsive practice, and maintain accurate case notes, assessments, reports and client records. Most importantly, you are committed to helping Aboriginal families feel heard, supported and connected on their journey towards safety, healing and wellbeing.
