About the role
Lead the additive manufacturing business at New Forge Engineering, taking it to the next stage. You'll be the face of the business and main contact for customers, from first enquiry and design through to delivery and invoicing, looking after existing clients and finding new ones. You'll follow up, spot opportunities, and represent the business at field days, trade shows and business events. As the business grows, you'll lead a junior team member to run the printers and handle deliveries. This is a design, client and leadership role, not a print operator role.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the additive manufacturing business day to day, with ownership of its results, quality and growth
- Manage client relationships: keep existing customers well looked after, and follow up proactively rather than waiting to be asked
- Find and win new customers, through visits, follow-ups and referrals
- Represent New Forge Engineering at field days, trade shows and other business events
- Meet customers, in the office and on site, to understand what they need and recommend the right design, material and process
- Design and modify parts in Fusion 360, from customer sketches, samples or broken originals
- Choose materials, tolerances and print settings to suit the application
- Prepare quotes,
work out job costs, and manage jobs from enquiry to invoice in Zoho
- Troubleshoot print problems and improve quality and reliability
- Organise the print workshop, including scheduling and workflow, and lead and develop junior staff as the team grows
About you
- Good experience with 3D printing
- Strong Fusion 360 skills
- Able to design and modify parts for customers
- Good understanding of materials, tolerances, and print settings
- Able to troubleshoot print issues
- Comfortable talking to customers and understanding what they need
- Able to prepare quotes and work out job costs
- Experience with Zoho for quotes, customer details, and invoices
- A proactive, self-driven approach: you spot opportunities and act on them without being told
- Leadership potential, with experience guiding others or running a business or area, or a clear readiness to step into that
