Electrical Trade Assistant / Plant Operator – Casual – Residential 5:2 (Karratha, WA)

Coastal Electrical and Data is seeking an experienced Electrical Trade Assistant / Plant Operator to join our growing team in Karratha, WA.

This is a Casual Role offering either a FIFO 2:1 roster or Residential 5:2 roster, working across a diverse range of commercial, industrial and mining projects throughout the Pilbara.

You'll play a key role in supporting our electricians and project teams with electrical installations, excavation, trenching, civil works and plant operations while being part of a supportive, professional team that values safety, growth and teamwork.

What You'll Be Doing

- Assisting electricians with electrical installations, maintenance and project works.

- Operating excavators and other plant equipment for trenching, digging and civil works.

- Assisting with underground electrical services, cable laying, conduit installation and backfilling.

- Working on local and site-based projects throughout the Pilbara.

- Operating HR vehicles and transporting plant, equipment and materials as required.

- Assisting with site preparation, loading and unloading equipment and materials.

- Working alongside electricians, other trades, site personnel and project managers.

- Ensuring all works are completed safely and in compliance with relevant standards and site requirements.

- Completing relevant job documentation, pre-start checks and safety paperwork.

What We're Looking For

- Experienced Electrical Trade Assistant with a strong background in civil works and plant operations.

- Proven experience operating excavators,



particularly trenching and digging around underground services.

- Ability to operate various types of plant and machinery safely and competently.

- Experience working on commercial, industrial and/or mine site projects.

- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

- Ability to take initiative and assist across multiple areas of project work.

- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

- Commitment to safe work practices.

- Flexibility to undertake a variety of electrical, civil and general project duties.

Requirements

- Demonstrated experience as an Electrical Trade Assistant or in civil/construction project works.

- Current HR Driver's Licence.

- Excavator operating experience with relevant ticket or VOC.

- Current Australian Driver's Licence.

- Construction White Card.

- Experience working around underground services and excavation activities.

- Ability to work either a FIFO 2:1 or Residential 5:2 roster.

Additional Licences & Tickets Highly Regarded:

- Skid Steer / Bobcat operating competency or VOC.

- Front End Loader operating competency or VOC.

- Forklift High Risk Work Licence (LF).

- EWP High Risk Work Licence (WP).

- Working at Heights.

- Confined Space Entry.

- First Aid / CPR.

- Relevant High Risk Work Licences.

- Mining site inductions and additional plant operating VOCs.

Physical Requirements





- Ability to work in a range of environments, including:

- Outdoor and indoor settings.

- Civil construction and excavation sites.

- Working at heights.

- Confined spaces.

- Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment and materials.

- Ability to work in Pilbara weather conditions.

- Ability to pass pre-employment and site medicals, including drug and alcohol testing (LabDAS) when required.
