Help shape the places where communities grow, connect and belong.
At the City of Armadale, we're helping shape the landscapes, parks and public spaces that will serve our growing community for generations to come. We're looking for an experienced and collaborative Subdivision Landscape Architect to help guide the delivery of high-quality public open spaces, streetscapes and landscape assets through the subdivision and development process.
This is an opportunity to influence how new communities are designed and delivered. You'll work closely with developers, consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure landscape outcomes are practical, sustainable and aligned with the City's vision for the future.
If you enjoy combining technical expertise, design review, site inspections and stakeholder engagement to create lasting community assets, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
As the City's Subdivision Landscape Architect, you will provide specialist landscape architecture advice throughout the planning, design and delivery of developer-funded landscape projects.
Working under the guidance of the Subdivision Lead, you'll assess landscape proposals, oversee construction and maintenance periods, and support the successful handover of new public assets to the City.
In this role, you will:
- Assess subdivision, development and planning applications to ensure landscape outcomes meet City requirements and community expectations.
- Review landscape plans, technical drawings, specifications, planting schedules and maintenance plans.
- Provide specialist advice on public open space, streetscapes, drainage areas, road reserves and revegetation projects.
- Collaborate with planners, engineers, environmental specialists and parks teams to deliver integrated development outcomes.
- Undertake site inspections during construction and maintenance periods to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications.
- Monitor defects, coordinate corrective actions and work with developers and contractors to achieve required standards.
- Manage practical completion, maintenance obligations, bond assessments and handover processes.
- Maintain accurate project records, approvals, inspections and asset transfer documentation.
- Respond to enquiries from developers, consultants, contractors and government agencies.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of landscape standards, specifications and assessment procedures.
Your work will directly influence the quality, sustainability and long-term management of public open spaces and landscape assets across our city.
About You
You're a qualified Landscape Architect who combines technical expertise with practical problem-solving and strong stakeholder management skills.
You enjoy seeing projects through from assessment and design review to construction, maintenance and final handover, and you're confident navigating complex development environments while balancing competing priorities.
You will thrive in this role if you:
- Hold tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline.
- Have experience assessing or delivering landscape works associated with subdivisions and land development.
- Understand local government development processes, public open space delivery and landscape asset handover requirements.
- Can interpret technical drawings, landscape plans, specifications, planting schedules and cost estimates.
- Have strong knowledge of landscape design, horticultural practices and water sensitive urban design principles.
- Can apply planning conditions, policies, design standards and guidelines to achieve practical outcomes.
- Build productive relationships with developers, consultants and internal stakeholders.
- Communicate technical information clearly and negotiate solutions to complex issues.
- Work independently, exercise sound skilled judgement and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Hold a Construction Induction Card (White Card), C Class Driver's Licence and can obtain a National Police Certificate.
