We're partnering with a legal tech business looking to bring on an AI Engineer to build AI into their product. A hands-on role shipping agentic systems that take real legal work off a lawyer's desk, where accuracy and trust matter more than novelty.
The Prospect
Design and build production AI agents that execute multi-step legal processes end to end
Build the surrounding architecture, including RAG pipelines, tool use, orchestration and state management
Work with legal documents at depth, covering extraction, classification, summarisation and structured output
Design evaluation frameworks that prove output quality before anything reaches a lawyer
Own solutions end to end, from problem definition through design, build, deployment and monitoring
Manage cost, latency and quality trade-offs across model providers

Work directly with legal subject matter experts to turn how lawyers actually work into something the product can do
What We're Looking For
Hands-on experience building and shipping production AI, not prototypes
Agentic experience, having designed and run agents that do real work rather than demo well
Strong across LLM patterns including RAG, prompt engineering, evaluation and model APIs
Confident writing production Python
Experience with cloud AI services and deploying with proper CI/CD
Experience working in or building for the legal industry, with a working understanding of legal documents and workflows
Able to work alongside non-technical experts and translate their process into product
