Join as a Disability Support Worker to provide one-on-one support for an independent young adult with Angelman Syndrome living in the community.
This role involves facilitating independence, supporting daily living activities, and enabling community participation.
You will work as part of a collaborative team including Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Behaviour Support services, with a focus on working towards NDIS goals.Key responsibilitiesMotivate and support participation in community activities and interests including gaming, sci-fi, movies, LARPing, gym, swimming, and conventionsSupport with hygiene, personal care through verbal prompts, housework, and food preparation with healthy food choicesUnderstand and implement mealtime management planCommunicate using AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) including electronic and non-electronic methodsProvide mobility assistance and support with personal care tasksManage challenging behaviours with de-escalation skills and emotional regulation supportMaintain hyper-vigilance for safety while supporting independence and self-directed activitiesCollaborate with Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist,
