This well established, not-for-profit organisation operates within the community services sector and has a broad and complex operating environment.
With a strong values led culture and an established finance function, the organisation is continuing to strengthen its financial capability and is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join the team.
Your new role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the technical financial accounting function and provide guidance and support to a small team.
This is a hands on role suited to someone who enjoys a fast paced and complex setting and is confident taking ownership of their area.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing month end and year end financial accounting requirements
Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
Supporting the preparation of statutory financial statements
BAS/IAS preparation and compliance
Fixed asset accounting and reconciliations
Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards
Supporting internal and external audit requirements
Reviewing financial information and identifying discrepancies
Providing technical accounting support across the organisation
Supporting and guiding a small finance team
Driving improvements to financial accounting processes and controls
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful,
you'll be an established Financial Accountant or Senior Financial Accountant with strong technical accounting experience gained within a complex organisation.
You'll also bring:
CPA or CA qualification (or equivalent)
Strong technical financial accounting knowledge
Demonstrated month-end, year-end and statutory reporting experience
Experience working within a complex, fast paced environment
The ability to work autonomously and take ownership
A proactive and solutions focused approach
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Previous leadership, mentoring or supervisory exposure (highly regarded though not essential)
Experience working within the not-for-profit sector (highly regarded though not essential)

The salary for this position is circa $120,000 + superannuation + salary packaging.
