Credit Assessor (Underwriter) - Mortgages | Permanent | Sydney | Leading Non-Bank Lender
Sydney CBD location | Hybrid (3-4 days in office)
Our client, a leading non-bank lender based in the heart of Sydney, is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join their growing credit team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high-performing environment, supporting the delivery of efficient, compliant, and commercially sound lending outcomes.
In this role, you will report directly to the Credit Operations Manager and work closely with internal stakeholders as well as external partners including brokers, introducers, and other key parties across the lending ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess and underwrite residential mortgage applications, primarily via broker and third-party origination channelsManage a high volume of loan applications while maintaining strong attention to detail and compliance standardsEnsure all lending decisions align with internal credit policies and regulatory requirementsBuild and maintain strong relationships with brokers, introducers,



and key stakeholdersApply a commercially balanced approach to credit decisioning while managing risk effectivelyContribute to maintaining high service levels and turnaround times across the underwriting function
About You:
Minimum 2+ years' experience in mortgage underwriting or credit assessment within a bank or non-bank environmentMust hold a DLA of $1MStrong understanding of the consumer mortgage lending market and lending policiesSolid knowledge of broker/introducer channels and market practicesSound understanding of relevant State and Federal regulatory requirements, including banking and finance lawAbility to manage high volumes of work while maintaining accuracy and complianceExcellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skillsHigh level of integrity, attention to detail, and customer focusCertificate IV in Mortgage Broking (or willingness to obtain); Diploma preferred
