This is a hybrid role across compliance and hands-on support to the Chief Operations Manager for an established law firm.
It would suit someone who likes owning a compliance framework end to end but is equally happy rolling up their sleeves to keep a busy firm running smoothly.A big part of this role will be embedding and maturing the AML/CTF program alongside its existing obligations.
On the operations side, you will be the Chief Operations Manager's right hand on ad hoc projects, firm administration and process improvement.
No two weeks will look the same.Key responsibilities: Compliance & RiskEnsure compliance with all legal, regulatory and professional obligations, including AML/CTF requirementsMaintain and develop appropriate compliance and risk management frameworksProvide advice and support on AML/CTF queries across the businessSupport the AMLCO, including drafting and reviewing risk assessments for clients and mattersDeliver AML/CTF training across the businessOversee the annual renewal of the Law Society Limitation of Liability schemeKey responsibilities: Operations & Strategic ProjectsUndertake internal reporting and fulfil external reporting requirementsSupport firm-wide strategic projects,



including process automation and the adoption of AI toolsDrive AI-related initiatives to improve efficiency and resource utilisationRenew and administer insurance policiesManage building operations, liaising with the landlord and other suppliersManage library and other knowledge-related subscriptions and renewalsExperience:3 to 5+ years in a compliance role, with hands on knowledge of AML/CTF from banking, fintech or skilled servicesAdvanced MS Excel skillsMeticulous attention to detail, with sound judgement on when to escalConfident communicating with partners and staff at every level, including pushing back tactfullyHighly organised: able to juggle BAU compliance with shifting operational prioritiesA practical, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude and genuine interest in improving how things are doneAbility to own projects end to endWhat's on offerA genuinely broad role with visibility across the whole firm and direct exposure to partnersThe chance to shape a newly regulated AML/CTF functionA collaborative, award-winning workplace in the Sydney CBDSponsorship available for the right candidateThis is a unique oportunity that offers a truely varied role.
