About the roleVanguard Logistics Services is seeking an experienced Customs Broker to join our team for 12 month contract term.
Ideally we would like the candidate to be based in Mascot, however depending on your experience level, we are open to Brisbane and Perth locations as well.
This is a full-time contract position that plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth movement of goods across international borders.
As a Customs Broker, you will be responsible for facilitating the clearance of import and export shipments, managing complex customs documentation, and ensuring full compliance with all relevant regulations.
This position is fundamental to our operations, directly supporting our clients' supply chain objectives and contributing to the efficiency and reliability that Vanguard Logistics Services is known for.Key responsibilitiesPreparing and lodging customs declarations and related documentation for import and export shipmentsLiaising with customs authorities, freight forwarders, shipping companies and clients to ensure timely clearance of goodsCalculating and managing customs duties, taxes and other applicable chargesReviewing commercial invoices, packing lists and shipping documents for accuracy and complianceAdvising clients on tariff classifications, rules of origin and customs regulationsManaging bond and security documentation as requiredIdentifying and resolving customs issues and delays to facilitate smooth cargo movementMaintaining detailed records of all customs transactions and documentationStaying current with changes to customs legislation,



tariffs and trade agreementsProviding excellent customer service and support throughout the customs clearance processWhat we're looking forCurrent Customs Broker Licence issued by the Australian Customs and Border Force and CPD pointsCurrent AEP accreditaion with DAFFStrong knowledge of Australian Customs Act, Tariff Act, relevant import/export regulations and INCOTERMSExperience with BICON & COLSProficiency with customs broking software systems and databases (Currently using CW1 & Transparent.AI)Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when handling complex documentationStrong communication and negotiation skills to manage relationships with multiple stakeholdersAbility to work independently and manage multiple shipments simultaneouslyProblem-solving skills and the ability to resolve customs-related issues efficientlyExperience with both Air and Sea cargo is advantageousAbout usVanguard Logistics Services is a leading freight and cargo forwarding company operating across Australia.
