Join Ampcontrol's High Voltage team in Townsville as a Senior HV Protection Technician. Lead testing, commissioning and maintenance of HV protection systems across mining, utilities, industrial and infrastructure projects, solving complex faults and mentoring technicians and graduates.

What You'll Do

- Lead HV protection testing, commissioning and maintenance in field and laboratory environments
- Investigate complex faults, interpret protection drawings and relay settings, and validate system performance
- Coordinate site testing and technical resources, and prepare and review commissioning records and reports
- Mentor technicians and graduates, and provide technical guidance to customers and project teams
- Uphold relevant standards, safe work practices, quality and customer service

About You

- You'll bring an Electrical Trade Qualification (Cert III Electrotechnology – Electrician) or Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), plus:
- Substantial hands-on HV protection testing, commissioning and maintenance experience
- Strong fault diagnosis skills and the ability to interpret protection schemes, drawings, relay settings and test results
- Technical leadership, mentoring and clear communication skills, with a commitment to safety and quality
- A current Class C Driver Licence (or ability to obtain) and willingness to travel across Queensland and interstate

Highly Regarded





- Protection test planning and commissioning coordination; experience with SEL, ABB, Schneider, Siemens or GE systems
- Power systems, substation or network experience across mining, utilities or industrial sectors
- Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering, HV Switching certification, or current LV Rescue and CPR
- EWP, Working at Heights, Forklift or MR Licence qualifications
