Bakery Manager: Lead the Team: Take Pride in the Product.

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, an independent supermarket retailer, for a hands-on Bakery Manager who takes pride in quality baking, builds a capable team, and knows how to run a successful department.

From planning production to keeping displays fresh and inviting, you’ll take ownership of the bakery’s daily performance. You’ll work alongside your team, set transparent expectations, and make sure quality stays consistent throughout the trading day.
You’ll also have support from the Store Manager, Bakery Specialist and Operations team.

What you’ll take charge of

- Freshness and quality: Plan production, maintain product standards and keep the department well stocked and appealing.
- Team leadership: Recruit, train and coach your team, building skills, confidence and accountability.
- Commercial performance: Drive sales and gross profit while managing wages, stock and waste.
- Daily operations: Oversee rosters, ordering, stock rotation and equipment care.
- Safe working practices: Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards.
- Hands-on baking:



Step into production when needed and lead by example.

What you’ll bring
You’re a bakery professional who can organise a busy production schedule and help your team get the best out of each day.
Ideally, you’ll have:

- A trade qualification in baking.
- At least three years of bakery experience at supervisory level.
- Experience in a retail bakery, supermarket bakery, or bakery department leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of bakery production, quality control and food safety.
- Confidence managing sales, gross profit, wage costs, and waste.
- Experience training team members and managing performance.
- Good computer skills, including ordering and retail systems.
- A practical approach, clear communication and high standards of customer service.
