Education, Childcare & Training

Catherine McAuley Primary School, Medowie, is seeking exceptional Primary School Teachers to join our founding team.

As we prepare to welcome our inaugural students, we are excited to offer a range of teaching opportunities within our foundation staff. We are recruiting for five full-time Classroom Teacher positions, along with several part-time opportunities ranging from 0.1 FTE to 0.8 FTE.

Some positions will commence during Term 4, 2026, providing an opportunity to contribute to the school’s establishment and opening preparations, while other positions will commence in January 2027. Applicants should be flexible regarding start dates and clearly indicate their preferred FTE and availability in their application.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of something from the very beginning.

Opening in 2027, Catherine McAuley Primary School will be a new Catholic primary school serving the growing Port Stephens community. As a founding teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the culture, curriculum and learning experiences that will define the school for years to come.

For teachers commencing in Term 4, 2026, dedicated release time will be provided to support the school's preparation for opening. Working collaboratively with the Principal and foundation team, you will contribute to the planning and development of your Stage, helping establish high-quality curriculum, assessment and teaching practices, while creating engaging learning environments ready to welcome our first students.

Founding staff will also have the opportunity to contribute to key areas of school life, including First Nations education, sport, wellbeing and student leadership. Together, you will help design the programs, structures and practices that will bring these priorities to life from day one.

From Term 1, 2027, teaching roles will operate within the school's contemporary and collaborative learning model. Teachers will work alongside colleagues to co-plan, co-design and co-deliver learning experiences, using evidence-informed practice and student data to maximise outcomes for every learner.

Purpose-built to support this approach, the school's up-to-date and flexible learning environments will foster collaboration, innovation and team teaching, creating spaces where both students and staff can learn, grow and thrive.

Located within a dynamic education precinct alongside Catherine McAuley Catholic College and St Nicholas Early Education Centre, the school will offer unique opportunities for collaboration and continuity across the educational journey.

Beyond the workplace,

Medowie offers an enviable lifestyle in the heart of the Port Stephens region. Combining the benefits of coastal living with the warmth of a thriving community, it is located just 34 kilometres from Newcastle CBD and within easy reach of stunning beaches, national parks and the renowned Hunter Valley.

If you are a passionate and innovative educator excited by the opportunity to help establish a new school, shape its culture and create a lasting legacy, we would love you to join the founding team at Catherine McAuley Primary School, Medowie.
