Lead and Scale a Multi-State Outdoor Services Business

We’re a mature, profitable Melbourne-based outdoor estate maintenance business: 50+ staff, 600+ contracted clients across Melbourne’s most prestigious residential estates, and an established onshore and offshore administration team supporting a well-equipped field operation. We’re now expanding into New South Wales on the back of an exclusive national commercial partnership, and we’re building and reassessing our systems/processes to ensure that our offer is as good as it can be.

We’re looking for an Operations Manager with general-management scope. Every team in the business will report to you, either directly or through the leaders who run them. You’ll work side by side with the founder from our South Melbourne office as he steps back from the day-to-day. This a newly established role aimed at continuing stable management, while looking for ways to promote further sustainable growth.

What you’ll own:

- The whole operating structure: our field operations lead, onshore administration and offshore administration teams report directly to you, with field, warehouse and site crews reporting through their leaders

- Strategic growth: setting the plan, protecting margin, and delivering sustainable expansion in Victoria and into New South Wales

- Systems and process: overseeing Xero, our CRM and Google Workspace, holding the business to its processes, improving them where they fall short, and leading the rollout of AI tools that lift productivity across the operation

- People and culture: oversight of recruitment, development, performance and HR across the business, with a clear brief to build a culture people want to be part of

- Key client relationships:



ensuring premium service standards are met and our most key accounts are looked after at a senior level

- Decision-making: you’ll be the person who ensures everything runs in line with where the business needs to go, with the authority to make it happen

This is hands-on leadership from the centre of the business. You’ll be office-based in South Melbourne, close to the founder and close enough to the operation to know what’s really happening - and senior enough to change it.

Who we’re looking for:

- Proven experience growing a multi-team operation: trade services, facilities management, field services, logistics, or similar - ideally through a stage of expansion

- Strategic and commercial: you think in terms of systems, margin, capacity, P&L; and broader strategy, not just today’s job list

- A builder of leaders: you’ve managed managers, and you develop the people under you rather than doing their jobs for them

- Energised by technology: you see AI and automation as a competitive edge and want to be the one implementing it, not catching up to it

- Strong attention to detail, with the independence to run things without being told how

- Current Australian driver’s licence

- Base salary of $110,000 – $140,000 + super, depending on experience
