Emma Turnbull Lawyers (ETL) are a specialist criminal defence firm based in Melbourne. We are looking for a recent solicitor advocate to join our team of dedicated lawyers. This role will involve:
* Running both summary and indictable files and courtroom appearances
* Intervention Order (IVO) proceedings representing both applicants and respondents
* Regular appearances in court and instructing counsel
* Drafting court documents and correspondence, managing file load and high level of client service
* Working closely with senior lawyers and counsel on complex matters
The successful applicant will:
* Have a genuine interest in criminal law
* Be confident communicating with clients in high-stress situations
* Demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism and attention to detail
* Be committed to developing their advocacy and technical skills
This role will suit someone who:
* Wants real court advocacy experience across criminal and IVO jurisdictions
* Understands that our work is serious, nuanced, and people-focused
* Is drawn to criminal law because it demands care, judgment, communication and strategy
* Values training, mentorship and feedback, and is willing to step into responsibility
