Xcel Group is establishing a new commercial joinery manufacturing facility and is looking for an experienced Joinery Workshop Manager / Production Manager to take ownership of the operation and help build the division from the ground up. This is a senior, hands‑on role suited to someone with strong commercial joinery experience who understands the complete manufacturing process — from estimating and shop drawings through to CNC production, workshop management and project delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation and development of the new joinery workshop.
Key responsibilities
- Pricing and estimating commercial joinery projects
- Reviewing architectural drawings, specifications and project documentation
- Preparing accurate material and labour take-offs
- Producing detailed joinery shop drawings for client/architect approval
- Preparing drawings and programs suitable for CNC manufacturing
- Operating and/or overseeing CNC machinery
- Programming and optimising CNC production and nesting
- Managing projects from award through to manufacturing
- Planning workshop production and scheduling
- Coordinating material procurement and hardware
About you
- Trade qualification in Cabinetmaking, Joinery or a related trade
- Strong commercial joinery experience
- Previous workshop management, production management or senior supervisory experience
- Strong estimating and project pricing capabilities
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings
- Strong shop drawing capability
- Experience with CAD/CAM and CNC manufacturing software
- Strong understanding of CNC machinery, tooling and manufacturing processes
- Experience with nesting and production optimisation
- Strong understanding of joinery materials, hardware and construction methods
