We are seeking an experienced and capable Human Resources Manager to lead and manage the HR function across our diverse operations.
Working closely with the senior leadership team and departmental managers, this role is responsible for delivering practical, effective HR solutions that support business performance, employee engagement and organisational growth.
This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring a strong understanding of operational HR, employee relations, workforce planning and employment legislation. You will be responsible for ensuring HR processes, policies and practices are effectively implemented while providing sound advice and guidance to managers across the business.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast‑paced industrial environment, balancing the needs of the business with those of its employees and ensuring a consistent, fair and commercially focused approach to people management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the HR function across the business, ensuring effective delivery of both operational and strategic HR activities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation, Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements and company policies.
- Develop, implement and maintain HR policies, procedures and systems that support operational efficiency and legislative compliance.
- Oversee recruitment, selection, onboarding and retention strategies to ensure the business attracts and retains quality employees.
- Work closely with departmental managers to identify workforce requirements and develop effective workforce planning strategies.
- Support managers in improving employee performance, accountability, engagement and workplace culture.
- Manage employee development initiatives, succession planning and leadership capability across the organisation.
- Monitor and report on key HR metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure HR practices and processes are aligned with business objectives and contribute positively to operational performance.
Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in a senior HR management or HR business partnering role, preferably within manufacturing, mining, engineering, construction or a similar industrial environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and industrial relations practices.
- Proven experience managing complex employee relations matters, workplace investigations and performance management processes.
- Ability to provide practical, commercially sound HR advice to managers and senior leaders.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, coach and develop managers at all levels of an organisation.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confidence to make decisions, challenge thinking and manage difficult conversations professionally.
- Experience developing and implementing HR policies,
procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Relevant qualifications in Human Resources, Business Management or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
Who You Are:
You are a confident, approachable and commercially minded HR professional who understands that effective people management is fundamental to business success.
You are equally comfortable working with senior executives, departmental managers and employees on the workshop floor. You understand the importance of building strong working relationships while maintaining clear expectations, accountability and professional boundaries.
You have a practical approach to problem‑solving and recognise that HR must support the operational needs of the business while ensuring employees are treated fairly and consistently.
You are not someone who simply administers policies and procedures. You take ownership, identify opportunities for improvement and work proactively with managers to develop solutions that deliver positive outcomes.
