David Brown Santasalo (DBS) is a global leader in industrial gear systems, supporting some of the world’s largest mining and heavy-industry operations.

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our Mackay Service Centre in Paget.

If you know your way around gearboxes, bearings, shafts, gears and heavy rotating equipment, this is an opportunity to take your fitting skills to the next level and build specialist expertise with a global gearbox business.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is hands-on, technical fitting work where quality and precision matter.

You’ll be responsible for:

- Strip-down, inspection, overhaul and rebuild of industrial gearboxes

- Inspection of gears, shafts, bearings, housings and components

- Precision measurement and recording of inspection findings

- Bearing fitting, shaft assembly and setting mechanical clearances

- Identifying wear, damage and potential component failures

- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications

- Fault finding and assisting with repair recommendations

- Using precision measuring equipment and specialist workshop tooling

- Completing repairs and rebuilds to DBS quality and technical standards

- Working closely with our workshop, supervisors and engineering teams

- Supporting site work when required

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter who enjoys pulling equipment apart,



understanding why it failed and rebuilding it properly.

Industrial gearbox experience is highly regarded, but we also want to hear from experienced fitters with backgrounds in:

Mining | Fixed Plant | Rotating Equipment | Heavy Industry | Mechanical Overhaul

You’ll ideally bring:

- Mechanical Fitter trade qualification

- Robust mechanical fitting and fault-finding capability

- Experience with bearings, shafts, gears, couplings and assemblies

- Confidence using precision measuring equipment

- Ability to read engineering drawings and technical information

- High attention to detail and pride in your workmanship

- Strong safety focus

- A practical, team-oriented approach
