Wunan Health and Wellbeing Centre is a rapidly growing primary health care service based in Kununurra, in the East Kimberley region of WA. We deliver comprehensive and holistic care to the whole community including residents, workers and visitors to Kununurra and surrounding areas.

As the largest accredited private GP practice between Katherine (NT) and Broome (WA), we’re a busy and thriving medical centre supporting individuals, families and the whole community with a wide range of health and wellbeing programs and supports.

Together with Kununurra Withdrawal Intervention Centre (KWIC), an Allied Health program, headspace Kununurra and an Independent Advocacy Program, these services support individuals and families.

About the Position:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Medical Officer to join our supportive healthcare team in Kununurra, Western Australia. This role is essential in providing comprehensive primary healthcare at our private GP clinic, with a focus on culturally safe, patient centred care.

Responsibilities:

- Provide high-quality medical care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of various health conditions inclusive to developing individualised chronic condition care plans and various health assessments
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
- Work collaboratively with the Clinical Director in participating in Continuous Quality Improvements, Workforce development and learning, and the strategic alignment of the Wunan Health Framework
- Engage with the local community to promote health education and preventive care initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor GP Registrars and medical students as required.

Qualifications:

- 3 years post fellowship as a General Practitioner
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Understanding of Aboriginal health and culturally safe practice in cross-cultural settings
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Robust communication, conflict resolution, teamwork, strategic and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvement.
- Experience in rural or remote healthcare settings is advantageous
