Your Opportunity
We're looking for an Employment Consultant who can connect with and support people from Karen backgrounds as they work towards their employment goals. This role is about more than helping people find jobs. It's about building trust, understanding each person's journey, and providing practical support that helps people overcome barriers, build confidence and create brighter futures through meaningful work.
As part of our Workforce Australia team, you'll support Karen-speaking participants throughout their employment journey, helping them identify opportunities, navigate challenges and connect with the support they need to achieve their goals.

Advanced or fluent spoken Karen and English is essential for this role.
This is a fixed-term, part time opportunity (3 days a week) for an initial 12-month period. We're happy to discuss working days with the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build trusted relationships with participants from Karen backgrounds, providing personalised support.
- Use your Karen language skills and cultural understanding to explain services, workplace expectations and employment opportunities.
- Support participants to prepare resumes, complete job applications,
build confidence and develop the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.
- Connect participants with training, community services and other supports that address barriers and improve employment outcomes.
- Work with local employers to identify suitable job opportunities and advocate for participants.
- Provide ongoing support to participants and employers after employment starts to encourage long term success.
- Manage a participant caseload while maintaining accurate records and meeting program requirements.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who combines cultural understanding, strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to helping people succeed.
- Advanced or fluent spoken Karen and English.
- Strong connections to, understanding of, or lived experience within the Karen community.
- The ability to build relationships based on trust, respect and empathy.
- Strong organisational skills, confidence using computer systems and the ability to maintain privacy, compliance and accurate records.
- Working rights in Australia, and the ability to obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
- A current driver's licence and willingness to travel within the local service region.
Why You’ll Love Working at CVGT
You'll join a team that genuinely cares - for each other, our participants, and our communities.
We work together to create an environment where everyone can contribute and belong.
- Boost your take-home pay with tax free salary packaging benefits, including up to $15,900 for everyday living expenses, and up to $2,650 for meals and entertainment.
