About us
AYCE FOODS PTY LTD operates Day Off Cafe in Southport on the Gold Coast. Our menu focuses on a curated selection of signature dishes prepared fresh daily using quality ingredients. We are seeking an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team and maintain consistent food quality and kitchen standards as our business grows.
Key responsibilities
- Plan menus, develop dishes, estimate food and labour costs, and order supplies.
- Monitor food quality, preparation, portioning and presentation.
- Coordinate with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house staff regarding food preparation and service.
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and guide kitchen staff on preparation procedures.
- Prepare and cook dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Assist with selecting, training and supervising kitchen staff.
- Ensure food is stored, cooled, frozen and preserved in accordance with food safety requirements.
Skills and experience
- Certificate IV or higher in Commercial Cookery, or at least three years of relevant experience as a Chef.
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen, preferably in a high-volume environment.
- Strong cooking skills and the ability to maintain quality during busy service periods.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and secure food-handling practices.
- Good communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work weekends as required.
