Joyce Mechanical Services is a locally owned and operated business specialising in major overhauls of Caterpillar and Komatsu mining fleets. From our purpose-built Mackay facility, we deliver full “zero-hour” rebuilds and component overhauls for some of Queensland’s largest mining operations.
As aPainter and Blaster, you’ll be responsible for preparing, blasting, and painting mining machinery to meet both aesthetic and industry standards. Working within a small, results-driven team, you’ll work with a wide range of heavy equipment and components with precision and pride. This role is Monday to Friday, Mackay workshop based.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, clean, and strip metal surfaces through sandblasting, abrasive blasting, and chemical treatments.
Apply high-quality industrial coatings to mining machinery, ensuring a durable and qualified finish.
Operate blasting equipment to remove rust, paint, and other contaminants for optimal coating adhesion.
Maintain and calibrate painting and blasting equipment for maximum performance and efficiency.
Follow all safety protocols and industry regulations to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
Key Requirements
Minimum 2 years’ experience in painting and blasting, ideally within the mining or heavy equipment industry.
Strong knowledge of surface preparation and coating techniques, including abrasive blasting and industrial-grade paint application.
Solid understanding of painting materials, blasting processes, and surface treatment methods.
Relevant trade certifications in industrial painting and/or blasting.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality finishes.
