The purpose of this job The HealthCare Management team supports Bupa’s product value proposition by managing claims risk through establishing relationships with providers to ensure quality services are delivered at affordable prices. It also develops information to help members manage their health and illnesses better, to assist them to effectively navigate the health system and access appropriate out of hospital health services as an alternative to hospitalisation. Reporting to the Head of Commercial, the Senior Manager – Medical, Diagnostics & Public role significantly contributes to the value proposition by purchasing appropriate, quality services and establishing risk management strategies to support the goal of sustainable affordability with contracted healthcare providers. It leads a team of Engagement & Contracting Managers that service the medical, diagnostics and public hospital portfolio. It provides operational and people leadership into the team. This includes culture uplift, creating a ‘best place to work’ environment, nurtures team engagement, drives operational efficiencies and supports the ongoing growth and development of the team towards a high performing team. This role is charged with leading and executing on the shift to a partnership mindset with providers and advocates for Provider Experience. What you’ll need to make it possible:
• Significant experience (10+ years)



in leadership roles with demonstrated ability to drive culture change, skills uplifts and employee engagement in complex, high-pressure environments.
• Track record of developing and leading high performing teams, able to develop strong team cohesion and a commitment to coaching and development of teams to ensure they deliver extraordinary result
• Significant experience (10+ years) in a healthcare environment and negotiation of complex and high value contracts with large enterprise organisations and ongoing contract management disciplines
• Working knowledge of Casemix Funding Systems
• Deep Understanding of the private and public health care systems and industries and the related regulatory environments.
• Proven ability in partnership & alliance negotiation and understanding of negotiation strategies and scenario planning
• A track record of achievement and delivery in relevant commercial field with previous experience in public health environments advantageous
• Excellent stakeholder management (internal/external) and ability to build strong business relationships at a senior level and able to identify business development opportunities for Bupa with allocated healthcare providers
• Proven success influencing at the highest level What you’ll be doing in this role: Leadership
• Lead team responsible for negotiating and managing contracts for medical services (including MPPAs, MPAs, Medical Gap Scheme and General Practioner (GP)), diagnostics and public hospitals (including ensuring regular informal and formal engagement structures to manage relationships with contracted providers)
• Deliver on a culture uplift program in collaboration with the Head of Commercial and GM Hospital & Medical Partnerships
• Coaching,



development and uplift of E&CM; team members (including regular feedback to support growth and development) Hospital Engagement Framework

• Oversee implementation of operational components of the Hospital Engagement Framework
• Collaborate with the Health Transformation to implement strategic component of the Hospital Engagement framework
• Collaborate with the Network Performance and Optimisation Team to develop metrics and tracking that reports on the health of healthcare providers within their allocated portfolio and the overall network in which they sit. This must be used as part of discussions with allocated healthcare providers to improve overall performance Contracting & Governance
• Foster affiliations with state health authorities to ensure public hospital relationships are developed nationally
• Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies with customer outcomes at the heart of the negotiations for their allocated portfolio of healthcare providers
• Ensuring the appropriate management of all relationships and associated benefit outlay (including signalling early any concerns that affect claim reserving or AOP assumptions) for healthcare providers within the allocated portfolio Why you’ll love it?
