Purpose of the Role
The Gardener is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the presentation, health and overall condition of all gardens, landscaped areas and outdoor spaces throughout the hotel property. This role is integral to maintaining the hotel's five-star standards, ensuring that all gardens, lawns, plants and surrounding landscapes are presented to an exceptional standard for guests, team members and visitors.

About the role

- Maintain all gardens, landscaped areas, lawns, garden beds, hedges, trees, shrubs and ornamental plants throughout the hotel property.
- Undertake regular mowing, edging, pruning, trimming, weeding, mulching, planting and general garden maintenance.
- Plan and undertake seasonal planting, replanting and garden bed improvements in line with the property's landscape design and presentation standards.
- Select suitable plants and replacement species based on the property's environmental conditions, existing landscape design and maintenance requirements.




- Maintain healthy soil conditions through appropriate soil preparation, fertilisation, mulching and other treatments.
- Apply appropriate horticultural practices to promote healthy growth, longevity and consistent presentation.
- Regularly inspect gardens, lawns, trees and plants for pests, diseases, weeds and other issues affecting plant health.
- Identify common garden pests and plant diseases and implement appropriate control and treatment measures.
- Operate, inspect and maintain garden irrigation systems, including sprinklers, drip irrigation, controllers and associated equipment.
- Monitor watering schedules and adjust irrigation to suit seasonal conditions, rainfall, plant requirements and water conservation objectives.
- Identify and address irrigation faults, leaks, blockages, damaged sprinkler heads and inconsistent water distribution.
- Maintain gardening tools, machinery, irrigation equipment and other assigned assets in a clean and serviceable condition.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

- Relevant qualifications in Landscape Gardening, Horticulture, or a related field.
- Previous experience in landscape gardening, horticulture, and grounds maintenance.
- Sound knowledge of plant care, soil preparation, irrigation systems, and pest and disease management.
- Experience in planting, pruning, mowing, mulching, and maintaining landscaped areas.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain gardening tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high presentation standards.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
