Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker / Practitioner

Are you an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Worker or Practitioner looking for a role where your skills, knowledge, relationships and connection to community can make a genuine difference?

Yeppoon Family Practice is a long-established, well-loved general practice with a proud history of caring for families across the Capricorn Coast. For many patients, we have been part of their healthcare journey for years — sometimes generations.

As our practice continues to grow, we are looking for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker or Practitioner to join our supportive team and help us continue providing patient-centred, culturally respectful care for First Nations patients in our community.

This is a part time position working 3 days per week at Yeppoon Family Practice.

At Yeppoon Family Practice, our purpose is simple: to make a meaningful difference to the health of our community.

We offer a refreshing alternative to the bureaucracy of large hospitals or corporate healthcare. Here, you will be part of a local, values-driven team where people know each other, patients are treated as individuals, and every member of the healthcare team has an important role to play.

You will work alongside experienced GPs, Nurses and Administration staff, with the support of a practice group that has proudly served the Central Queensland community for 50 years.

This role provides an chance to build strong and respectful relationships with First Nations patients and families and support access to patient-centred, culturally respectful primary healthcare.

What we offer

- A trusted and respected local practice – Join a long-established healthcare team with deep community connections and a reputation for compassionate, high-quality care.
- Patient-centred care for First Nations patients – Support patients to access and engage with healthcare in a way that respects their individual needs, culture, experiences and circumstances.
- A culturally respectful and supportive environment – Work alongside GPs, Nurses and Administration staff who value respect, teamwork, kindness and culturally appropriate care.
- Predictable, family-friendly hours – Work 3 days per week with stable weekday hours and no shift work.
- Professional development and support – Receive comprehensive onboarding and role-specific training, with opportunities to develop your skills across primary healthcare, chronic disease management, care planning and preventative health.
- Collaborative care – Work closely with GPs, Nurses and other members of the healthcare team to support coordinated and holistic patient care.
- The opportunity to make a local impact – Contribute to improving healthcare access and supporting positive health outcomes for First Nations patients and families across the Capricorn Coast.
