About Active Ability
Active Ability is a specialist mobile disability therapy provider, delivering physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics and exercise physiology services across Sydney, Wollongong, the Central Coast and Canberra.
We specialise in supporting people across the lifespan with autism, neurological conditions, intellectual disability and mental illness, with a focus on helping our clients build capacity, independence, health and quality of life.
Our purpose is straightforward:
To empower the disability community.
Our values guide everything we do:
- Compassion – We approach everyone with empathy, understanding and a genuine willingness to help.
- Integrity – We do the right thing, even when no one is watching.
- Dedication – We follow through on our commitments and strive to achieve meaningful outcomes.
- People-focused – We respect, value and empower the people we work with.
We have an ambitious 10-year goal to empower 10,000 people within the disability community. Along the way, we have been fortunate to be recognised as Most Outstanding Allied Health Organisation at the 2021 Australian Disability Service Awards and ESSA Practice of the Year in 2023.

About the New Graduate Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic New Graduate Physiotherapist to join our growing physiotherapy team in the South West of Sydney.
This is a full time, permanent employee position commencing in 2027 as part of our established New Graduate Program.
What You'll Get at Active Ability
Become a disability specialist
Disability is our core focus.
You'll develop expertise in supporting people with complex disability and neurological conditions, while having the opportunity to develop your own clinical interests.
A structured approach to professional development
Start your 5-year professional development program, attend at least four whole-team professional development events each year, participate in regular in-services and work towards an individual Professional Development Plan.
Mentoring from experienced clinicians
Learn directly from senior physiotherapists and directors through supervision, case reviews, shadowing, clinical skill development and professional development sessions.
A supported transition from university to practice
Our 16-week onboarding program is designed specifically to help new graduates transition into community-based disability practice, with ongoing support well beyond your initial onboarding period.
Meaningful, rewarding work
Build genuine relationships with your clients and their families, carers and support teams. You'll see the difference your work can make as clients work towards meaningful goals and greater independence.
Complex and interesting clinical presentations
Our caseload includes people living with conditions such as spinal cord injury, Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, Huntington's disease, cerebral palsy and rare neurological disorders,
alongside a broad range of other disabilities and chronic conditions.
Variety in your caseload
Our capacity-building approach means you'll work with a diverse client base rather than providing ongoing maintenance therapy. Our clients range from approximately 2 to 70 years old, and no two days are the same.
A genuinely multidisciplinary environment
Work collaboratively with occupational therapists, exercise physiologists, dietitians, speech pathologists, behaviour support practitioners, support workers, support coordinators, GPs and other stakeholders.
Flexibility and autonomy
You’ll work primarily in the community, with the flexibility to manage your own diary, work from home when appropriate and attend our team days once a month in the office with the rest of the team, while having access to a supportive team and management whenever you need assistance, no matter where you are.
Most importantly, you’ll be joining a team of passionate clinicians who genuinely care about the work they do and the people they support.
You won't be expected to know everything when you graduate. Our aim is to provide you with the clinical support, supervision, training and experiences you need to build a strong foundation for your physiotherapy career.
Remuneration will be based on experience and will be well above award rates.
