As one of the first points of contact for patients, you will play an key role in creating a warm, supportive and professional experience from their first enquiry through to their ongoing care. Many patients are navigating complex or chronic health concerns, so empathy, patience, excellent communication and attention to detail are particularly important.
You will oversee the day-to-day reception function while helping to refine administrative systems, policies and procedures as the practice continues to grow and works towards accreditation. This role would suit an experienced medical receptionist or practice administrator who enjoys responsibility, problem-solving and being trusted to manage their area well.
Key responsibilities
Welcoming patients and creating a warm and professional first impression
Answering incoming calls and responding to patient enquiries
Booking and managing appointments using Best Practice software
Coordinating appointment changes around practitioner schedules
Maintaining accurate patient files and medical records
Assisting with billing, banking and debtor management
Managing supplement orders, preparation and shipping
Documenting, reviewing and improving reception processes and procedures
Responding appropriately and promptly to patient feedback and complaints
Supporting the practice through the accreditation process and working through accreditation requirements
About you
Previous experience in medical reception,
practice administration or a similar healthcare environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A warm, professional and patient-focused manner
Excellent organisation and attention to detail
Confidence managing multiple priorities in a busy practice
Experience using medical practice software such as Best Practice
Confidence using Microsoft 365
The ability to work independently, take initiative and solve problems
The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
