Jewells Fresh – Jewells NSW We are a small, family-owned greengrocer seeking a mature, reliable team member who can work confidently on their own and follow direction when working directly with the owners. This role begins as casual, with the opportunity to move into part‑time for the right person.
About the Role
This position involves a high level of solo work. You will be responsible for organising your own workload, staying productive without supervision, and maintaining store standards throughout your shift. Physical fitness is essential — the role includes standing for the entire shift, lifting produce boxes, and working quickly and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Serving customers and confidently handling enquiries
- Stocking out fruit, vegetables, and grocery items
- Lifting boxes and maintaining product displays
- Stock rotation and monitoring product quality
- Opening and closing the store independently
- Cleaning and maintaining a tidy, safe workspace
- Managing your own tasks and time throughout the shift
- Working directly with the owners and following instructions accurately
- Being the knowledgeable “go‑to” person for customers What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar retail or fresh‑food environment (Level 3 capability)
- Mature‑minded, positive, and friendly attitude
- Self‑motivated, organised, and able to work solo for most of the shift
- Reliable, honest, and trustworthy — consistent attendance and clear communication are essential
- Physically fit and comfortable with repetitive lifting and long periods on your feet
- Able to cope with a busy environment and maintain steady, calm work habits
- Someone who takes pride in presentation and store standards
- Comfortable working in a health‑focused workplace where fresh produce and active work are part of daily routine Award & Pay This role is covered under the General Retail Award, and junior rates apply where relevant. Level 3 classification based on experience and capability. Important Note We are a small business, and reliability is critical. Please only apply if you are confident working independently, can manage your workload without supervision, and are comfortable with the physical demands of the role. Applicants must be able to commit to consistent attendance and communicate professionally if circumstances change. Availability Casual shifts across weekdays and weekends. Additional hours and part‑time progression available for the right person. Pay: From $36.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week
