Primary objective Under the direction of the Hospital Engineering Manager, plan, develop and implement processes to ensure that Engineering Services requirements are met for all facets of mechanical services period contracts. This position will interchange with Royal Darwin/Palmerston Regional Hospital Mechanical Services Project Manager as required. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Supervise and plan work programs for mechanical services including specialist hospital equipment. 2. Prepare period contract maintenance specifications, assess tender estimates, and submit recommendations to the Engineering Manager. 3.



Liaise with and supervise mechanical services period contractors. 4. Ensure contractors reporting claims and submitting requested data is provided correctly and accurately in a timely manner and certify claims for payment. 5. Follow defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces. 6. Foster a positive workplace culture. 7. Participate in a weekly 24/7 on call roster. Selection criteria Essential 1. Formal mechanical refrigeration or fitting trade qualifications and/or, an appropriate technical certificate, or equivalent or a minimum of three years’ experience in a field of technical work related to the duties of the vacancy. 2. Demonstrated interpersonal and contract management skills. 3. Comprehensive knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance functions of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. 4. Ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide range of skilled, technical, trades and administrative people, maintaining professional interaction at all times. 5. Proven extensive experience in contract management of the maintenance and operations of large air-conditioning plant and equipment and mechanical services systems of a complex and diverse nature. 6. Demonstrated computer word based and spreadsheet skills. 7. Proven mechanical services supervision of both contractors and day labour work force. Desirable 1. Sound knowledge of Acts, Legislation, and Australian Standards related to the position. 2. Proven experience in contract management and associated supply and tendering procedures and ability to prepare clear and concise reports both of a technical and non-technical nature. 3. Experience with large scale mechanical systems such as Building Management System / Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition.
