Retail Sales Assistant Kakadu Blue – Darwin, NT Casual | From $34.76 per hour + super Are you interested in skincare, wellness and Australian-made products, and enjoy genuinely connecting with people? Kakadu Blue is the sole producer of Australian Blue Cypress essential oil. From harvesting and distillation through to product development, manufacturing and bottling, our products are produced locally at our Darwin facility. We are looking for friendly, patient and reliable Retail Sales Assistants to join our market team. You will represent Kakadu Blue directly to customers, helping them understand our products, ingredients and the story behind Australian Blue Cypress. Our approach to customer service At Kakadu Blue, retail is about more than making a sale. We take the time to listen to our customers, hear their stories, understand what they are looking for and share our own knowledge and experiences where appropriate. Many of our customer interactions are genuine conversations, and building that connection is an important part of how we work. We want customers to feel listened to and comfortable, rather than rushed towards a purchase. We are looking for someone who enjoys this kind of customer service and is willing to take the time to learn our approach. The role Our primary year-round market is Parap Village Markets on Saturdays from approximately 7:00 am–2:30 pm. Additional shifts may be available at Mindil Beach Sunset Market on Thursdays and Sundays during the market season, as well as other markets, events and busy periods. As you become established in the role, you may be responsible for operating the market stall independently, including setup, sales, customer service and pack-down. Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable service
- Listen to customers and take the time to understand what they are looking for
- Learn our product range, ingredients and the uses of Australian Blue Cypress
- Help customers select products appropriate to their needs and explain how to use them
- Demonstrate and assist customers with product testers
- Recommend complementary products where appropriate, without using a pushy sales approach
- Process cash and card transactions accurately
- Maintain clean and hygienic testers and displays

- Monitor retail stock and identify when products need replenishing
- Set up and pack down the market stall
- Represent Kakadu Blue and Australian Blue Cypress professionally
- Develop the knowledge and confidence to operate the stall independently About you We are looking for someone who is:
- Patient, friendly and genuinely interested in people
- A good listener who takes the time to understand what a customer is looking for
- Comfortable having genuine conversations with customers, listening to their stories and finding common ground
- Able to give customers time and space rather than rushing towards a sale
- Comfortable observing and learning before taking the lead
- Receptive to training, feedback and different ways of doing things
- Comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification when unsure
- Able to use initiative when confident in their knowledge and check in when something is unfamiliar
- Confident communicating with a wide range of people without being pushy
- Reliable and able to work independently once trained
- Interested in skincare, wellness, natural products or Australian botanicals
- Willing and able to learn detailed product and ingredient information
- Organised and attentive to presentation and hygiene
- Comfortable handling cash and electronic payments
- Available for early Saturday mornings and potentially evening and weekend market shifts Previous retail or customer service experience is helpful but not essential. Product knowledge and our approach to sales can be taught. We place greater value on finding someone who is reliable, patient, willing to learn and comfortable asking questions. How we train Our products and approach to customer service take time to learn. During your initial shifts, you will spend significant time listening, observing customer interactions and learning from experienced team members before gradually taking the lead on sales.

We don't expect you to know everything immediately. We would much rather you ask a question than make an assumption or attempt something you don't yet understand. We value initiative when it is supported by knowledge and understanding. As your product knowledge and experience grow, so will the independence and responsibility you are given.
