## Shop Manager – Bright Beans Join a growing business and take the lead at our brand-new workplace café, where great food, coffee and hospitality make a real impact. ## About Bright Beans Bright Beans is a Melbourne-based workplace hospitality business providing coffee, food and café services to workplaces across Melbourne. We’re also a certified social enterprise with a bigger purpose behind what we do. We donate no less than 50% of our profits to organisations supporting mental health and suicide prevention. ##
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Shop Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation of our recent workplace café. This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll lead the team, oversee food and beverage service, manage stock and ordering, and ensure our customers receive consistently high-quality food, coffee and service. We’re looking for someone who is more than just a manager. Strong food and beverage knowledge, excellent coffee skills and a genuine passion for hospitality are essential. ## What you'll be responsible for

- Running day-to-day food and beverage operations
- Maintaining consistently high coffee quality and service standards
- Working hands-on during busy service periods
- Overseeing food preparation, presentation and quality
- Stock ordering, receiving and stock control
- Managing wastage and food costs
- Staff rostering and team coordination
- Maintaining food safety, cleanliness and workplace safety standards
- Opening and closing the venue
- Monitoring sales and operational performance
- Building a positive, professional and customer-focused team culture
- Working with Bright Beans management to continually improve the venue ## What we're looking for The right person will have:
- Proven experience managing a café, restaurant, hospitality venue or similar
- Strong barista and coffee skills
- Strong food and beverage knowledge
- A genuine understanding of quality food and coffee
- Experience leading and developing a team
- Strong operational and organisational skills
- Experience with stock ordering, inventory and cost control
- Excellent customer service skills
- The ability to work calmly and effectively in a busy environment
- A hands-on approach and willingness to jump in wherever needed
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- A strong work ethic and positive attitude You don't need to be a head chef or a coffee roaster, but you do need to understand what good looks like when it comes to food, coffee and hospitality. ## This role is for you if... You're the type of person who notices when the coffee isn't right, knows when food isn't up to standard, sees what needs doing before being asked, and can bring a team along with you. You're confident making decisions, solving problems and taking ownership of your venue. ## Why Bright Beans? This is an opportunity to join a growing business and take genuine ownership of a new workplace café. You'll be supported by an experienced management team while having the autonomy to lead your venue, develop your team and help shape how the operation grows. And there's a bigger purpose behind what we do. Every sale helps us create greater impact, with a significant portion of our profits supporting mental health and suicide prevention. If you're an experienced hospitality professional with strong food and coffee skills and you're looking for a role where you can genuinely make your mark, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now and tell us about your hospitality experience and why Bright Beans interests you.
