We are looking for a

Special Counsel or Senior Associate who will also take on the role of Practice Leader of our Sandgate office . This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced lawyer who enjoys both practising at a high technical level and leading a close-knit team.

You will play a key role in shaping the success of the office – mentoring and supporting your team while delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.

About the role You will be an integral member of our team, balancing two key responsibilities:

delivering high-quality estate planning services to our clients; and

leading and managing the Sandgate office and its team.

You will work closely with the firm’s directors and management team, as well as other senior lawyers, while enjoying autonomy in managing your own matters and leading your team.

Your legal work responsibilities will include:

Learning and embracing our approach to estate and succession planning matters;

Running your own simple and complex estate planning (and related) matters from initial consultation through to final document signing;





Conducting due diligence investigations (relating to our clients’ existing documents, circumstances and asset ownership structures) and reporting on your findings;

Drafting simple and complex Wills, enduring powers of attorney and other estate planning documents;

Collaborating with clients, referrers, accountants and financial planners to develop tailored estate plans and asset protection strategies;

Managing files with meticulous attention to legal and procedural detail; and

Bringing technical expertise to the table.

You will also play a key leadership and operational role. Your responsibilities will include:

Leading, mentoring and supporting our Sandgate team;

Fostering a positive, high-performing and collaborative team culture aligned with the firm’s values;

Conducting regular one-on-one meetings and performance discussions with team members;

Supporting the professional development and growth of junior staff through training, guidance and mentoring;

Overseeing team resourcing to ensure efficient matter management and excellent client service;

Monitoring team performance, productivity and budgets and reporting to the firm’s directors;

Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and client service delivery;

Addressing staff issues proactively and constructively,



escalating matters to the directors where required;

Supporting business development initiatives and maintaining solid relationships with referrers and the local community; and

Helping ensure the Sandgate office operates smoothly, efficiently and consistently with the firm’s standards and culture.

Our salary package for this role starts from $175,000 (including superannuation).

The advertised pay range may be increased for candidates who have significant technical skills, extensive experience and/or an existing client/referral base.

About you Although we are looking for an estate planning lawyer, we also welcome candidates with estate administration and/or estate litigation experience.

We are looking for someone who has:

4+ years PAE;

2+ years’ experience in estate planning, estate administration, estate litigation and/or related areas;
