About Us

The Boob Diner is a family-owned and operated hospitality business based in Booborowie, South Australia.

Alongside our established diner, we operate Outta Boob Mobile Catering, taking our food to regional events, community gatherings, private functions and other locations throughout the Mid North.

With our mobile catering operations expanding, harvest season bringing new opportunities and our event calendar continuing to grow, we're looking for an experienced and motivated short-order cook to join our team.

About the Role

We're seeking a confident, experienced short-order cook who can manage a busy kitchen, maintain high food standards and take responsibility for coordinating a small team during service.

This is a hands-on position combining cooking, kitchen organisation, shift supervision and occasional front-of-house responsibilities.

The successful applicant will work across both our Booborowie diner and mobile food trailer, with opportunities to participate in events and catering throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook menu items efficiently and consistently in a quick-paced short-order kitchen.
- Confidently manage multiple orders, cooking times and service priorities.
- Coordinate kitchen operations and supervise team members during designated shifts.
- Maintain food quality, presentation and portion consistency.
- Assist with food preparation, stock rotation and inventory management.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.




- Support front-of-house operations, including taking orders, customer service and operating the POS system when required.
- Assist with preparation, setup and operation of our mobile catering trailer.
- Work collaboratively with owners and team members to ensure smooth service across both operations.

About You

Essential:

- Demonstrated experience in a busy commercial short-order kitchen.
- Confidence using grills, fryers and other commercial kitchen equipment.
- Strong time management and the ability to handle multiple orders under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and take the lead during service.
- Good communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
- Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Willingness to assist across kitchen and front-of-house duties.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and at different catering locations.

Highly regarded:

- Previous experience supervising kitchen staff or managing shifts.
- Experience in food trucks, mobile catering or event catering.
- Food Safety Supervisor certification.
- Current driver's licence.
