Description

Forgepoint Recruitment is seeking an experienced Technical Storesperson for an established metal fabrication business in St Marys. You’ll run stores for a busy fabrication floor, looking after sheet, plate, fasteners and consumables, and keeping the cutting, folding and welding sections supplied.

This is stores on a working fabrication floor, not a clean distribution centre. Expect heavy material and a noisy setting. It suits someone who knows steel, takes pride in accurate stock and is comfortable on a forklift all day.

What you’ll be doing

- Receiving sheet, plate, bar and tube, checking grade, thickness and quantity against the delivery and purchase order
- Picking and kitting material and hardware against job sheets and drawings, and issuing it to the production sections
- Keeping stock accurate in the system: receipts, issues, transfers, stocktakes and reorder points
- Operating a forklift throughout the day to unload trucks, rack sheet and plate, and move work between sections
- Dispatch: packing finished parts, labelling, paperwork and booking freight

What you’ll need

- 2+ years’ experience as a storesperson in manufacturing, engineering, fabrication or trade supplies




- Current forklift licence (LF) and confidence handling sheet and plate
- Ability to tell mild steel, stainless and aluminium apart, and to read thickness and grade from a job sheet or drawing
- Experience using a computer stock system
- Full working rights in Australia
- Own transport to St Marys for a 7:00am start

Nice to have

- Experience with an ERP or MRP system, or setting reorder points
- Overhead crane experience
- Freight booking and dispatch paperwork
- Background in steel merchants, fastener suppliers or engineering supplies
