Primary business is in the mining industry and includes switch rooms and motor control centres for dragline overhauls, motor control and power distribution boards for industrial areas and also local control panels and local isolators.

About the role

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, technical coordination, quality assurance and project management of electrical switchboards, motor control centres (MCCs), distribution boards and custom electrical control panels.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Prepare and review electrical designs, schematic diagrams, single-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings and technical documentation.
- Perform electrical engineering calculations, including cable sizing, busbar sizing, short-circuit withstand, temperature rise and equipment selection.
- Ensure electrical switchboards and control panels comply with applicable Australian Standards, including AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 61439.
- Prepare and review bills of materials (BOM), technical specifications and engineering documentation for manufacturing.
- Coordinate electrical engineering projects, including technical reviews, procurement support, production requirements and project delivery.
- Conduct design verification,



quality assurance inspections and technical assessments to ensure compliance with approved designs and client specifications.
- Provide engineering support to production teams, resolve technical issues and coordinate with suppliers and clients.
- Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT), inspection and commissioning support where required.

Qualifications

- AQF Bachelor Degree or higher qualification

Skills and attributes

- Knowledge of electrical power distribution, control systems and applicable electrical standards.
- Experience in electrical design, project coordination, technical documentation and quality assurance.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accurate installation and implementation.
- Good understanding of electrical measurements, circuit analysis, cable sizing, electrical equipment selection, and the preparation of materials for electrical projects.
- Sound knowledge of electrical safety practices, risk assessment, lockout/tagout procedures, and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and maintenance teams to complete projects efficiently and safely.

Hours and remuneration

This is a full time position of approximately 38 ordinary hours per week, with overtime available. The remuneration for the role is $75,000 – $95,000 per annum, exclusive of superannuation, together with compulsory superannuation and any penalty rates, overtime and allowances payable under the Electrical Power Award [MA000088].
