PrimeX Medical is hiring a casual Field Service Technician in Perth to service and install medical imaging equipment for leading manufacturers. No medical background needed: full training is provided.

PrimeX Medical is an Australian medical imaging company. We trade, relocate and support imaging equipment, and we provide field service on behalf of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to hospitals, breast screening services and radiology clinics.
About the role
You will be our hands-on technician in WA. Most of your work is planned preventive maintenance (PM) and installing new equipment for our OEM partners. You will also carry out field service modifications and, when needed, repairs under OEM guidance and remote technical support. We train you on each product before you work on it.
Hours are casual, typically weekdays, with some early starts or weekends to suit hospital and clinic schedules. Based in Perth, with travel across WA and occasional interstate trips.
Key duties
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and safety checks to OEM procedures.
- Install, commission and de-install imaging equipment at customer sites.
- Carry out field service modifications (FSMs) and software or hardware upgrades as directed by the OEM.
- Diagnose and repair faults with OEM remote support, escalating when needed.
- Complete service reports, parts usage and time records accurately on the day of the visit.
- Follow site safety, radiation safety, hospital access and infection control rules.
- Communicate clearly with radiographers, biomedical engineers and site managers about work status.
- Travel within WA and occasionally interstate, including some overnight stays.
Essential criteria
- Trade certificate or qualification in electrical, electronics, mechatronics or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience fault-finding and maintaining electrical, electronic or electro-mechanical equipment.
- Current full Australian driver's licence and your own reliable vehicle.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional interstate trips and overnight stays.
- Able to work independently, follow written procedures exactly and manage your own schedule.
- Explicit written and spoken English for reports and customer contact.
- Right to work in Australia.
Desirable criteria
- WA electrical licence.
- Experience with medical, X-ray, laboratory or other regulated equipment.
- Radiation safety knowledge, or willingness to obtain a Radiological Council of WA licence.
- Basic IT and networking skills (Windows, network setup, DICOM/PACS a bonus).
- Experience working in hospitals or other clinical settings.
- Working knowledge of medical device quality standards (ISO 13485, ISO 9001), including taking part in audits.
- Fault-finding on pneumatic and hydraulic systems as well as electrical and electronic circuits.
