Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to provide end-to-end technical leadership for the Collections engineering capability within a major Cards Modernisation program.

This role will lead the technical transition of Collections from legacy Cards dependencies to HPS, covering data engineering, integration architecture, cloud platforms, PCC, and .NET services.

You will define architecture and engineering standards, guide cross-platform integration, and ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, observable, and ready for production. The role also involves mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical decisions across multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the end-to-end technical architecture for Cards Modernisation impacts across Collections.
- Define integration patterns between HPS, Snowflake, Collections, and PCC.
- Establish stable Collections data contracts that minimise dependencies on source-system implementation details.
- Provide technical leadership across Snowflake, PySpark, AWS/DHP, and .NET services.
- Define standards for data quality, data lineage, observability, and production resilience.
- Lead migration, coexistence, and parallel-run strategies during modernisation.
- Guide API-based, batch, and event-driven integration patterns.
- Lead complex production investigations across multiple platforms.




- Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers and promote engineering best practices.
- Influence architecture and engineering decisions across multiple teams.

Essential Skills and Experience

- Solid experience in enterprise architecture and systems integration.
- Extensive experience with Snowflake.
- Strong PySpark/Spark, Python, and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with AWS cloud platforms and large-scale data engineering.
- Understanding of data contracts, schema evolution, and data integration patterns.
- Strong knowledge of APIs, distributed systems, and cross-platform integration.
- Experience with modern .NET architecture and services.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, production engineering, monitoring, and operational resilience.
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership across complex enterprise programs.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
