About Stellar DistributionStellar Distribution is a founder-led FMCG wholesale business with a forward-looking approach and a great team across finance, operations and customer service. We value people who take ownership, share ideas and help us improve. We welcome constructive feedback and are open to changing how we work when there is a better way. We are also serious about AI adoption and staying at the leading edge of practical technology that improves our business.

We are looking for a Finance Manager who can bring strong accounting discipline and help shape the next stage of our finance function.

About the roleReporting to the CFO, you will be supported by a finance team member and work closely with our broader operational and customer-facing teams.

You will take ownership of the full accounting function, delivering accurate accounts, timely month-end reporting and clear, organised financial records. You will also analyse results and work with business stakeholders to explain performance, investigate variances and provide insights that support decisions.

There is real scope to shape how the function operates. We want you to bring your experience, ideas and preferred ways of working to build effective processes, strengthen controls and improve the quality of financial information across the business.

You will be comfortable getting into the detail, investigating a discrepancy and seeing it through to resolution. You will take pride in knowing that balances are verified, records are complete and the numbers can be relied on.

What you will do

- Own the accounting and month-end process: Manage the general ledger, journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations, with clear supporting records.
- Turn reporting into insight: Deliver timely management reports and board reporting inputs. Work with stakeholders to analyse performance, explain variances and identify opportunities to improve margins, costs and working capital.

- Manage daily finance operations: Oversee and contribute to accounts payable and receivable, customer portal invoicing, collections, supplier reconciliations and payment preparation.
- Maintain customer and credit controls: Manage customer setup, credit checks, approved credit limits and accurate customer and supplier master data.
- Support financial planning: Prepare cash flow forecasts, contribute to budgets and forecasts, and monitor working capital and bank covenant requirements.
- Maintain sound inventory accounting: Work with operations on stock reconciliations, landed costs, costing and margin accuracy, including the treatment of retailer deals, rebates and promotions.
- Manage payroll and compliance: Process and review payroll, apply relevant Awards and employment conditions, and coordinate applicable tax and superannuation obligations with the CFO and external advisers.
- Manage insurance and assets: Coordinate insurance renewals and claims, maintain fixed asset records and depreciation, and manage vehicle registrations and associated documentation.
- Help deliver the Odoo transition: Take ownership of finance requirements, data cleansing, mapping, testing, opening balance validation and reconciliations between systems.
- Improve how finance works: Develop clear procedures and effective controls, and introduce practical AI and automation workflows with appropriate verification and data protection.
- Support the team: Develop the finance team member, collaborate across the business and coordinate year-end accounting and tax requirements with the CFO and external advisers.

What you will bring
- Strong accounting knowledge and demonstrated experience running a complete accounting function and month-end close.
- Strong practical Odoo experience, including accounting workflows, reporting and reconciliations is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Advanced Excel skills for analysing, validating and reconciling data,

together with sound Xero knowledge.
- Experience implementing or transitioning ERP systems and developing effective finance processes.
- Australian payroll experience, including processing, review and application of relevant Awards.
- Exceptional attention to detail and disciplined data management. You verify balances, investigate differences and keep records clear, complete and organised.
- The confidence to take ownership, suggest improvements and follow through, alongside the judgement to escalate issues early.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate financial information into useful insights for business stakeholders.
- Enthusiasm for AI and emerging technology, with the initiative to explore and apply tools that improve accuracy, efficiency and analysis.

Highly regarded experience and qualifications

- CA or CPA qualification.
- FMCG or wholesale distribution experience.
- Import experience, including landed costs and inventory accounting.
- Experience working with retail customers, including case deals, rebates, promotional funding and related claims and reconciliations.
- Practical experience using AI and automation to improve accounting, reporting or business processes.

Why join us?You will join a excellent team in a founder-led business where your ideas and contribution can make a visible difference. Working closely with the CFO and colleagues across the business, you will have the opportunity to influence decisions and see improvements through from idea to implementation. We welcome feedback, value experience and are open to better ways of operating. You will have room to shape the finance function, establish effective working practices and build systems and reporting that help the whole business.

Our move to Odoo and commitment to AI adoption make this an opportunity to combine strong accounting fundamentals with meaningful systems and process improvement. If you enjoy making the numbers reliable, understanding what they mean and finding smarter ways to work, we would like to hear from you.
