We are expanding our specialist auditor network and seeking an experienced ISO/IEC 27701 Lead Auditor for upcoming client engagements.

The role

You will lead and deliver ISO/IEC 27701 Privacy Information Management System (PIMS) audit engagements for Australian clients.

This is a hands-on, project-based role requiring strong auditing experience, technical understanding of privacy management and the ability to independently assess management system effectiveness.

You will work directly with clients, review documented information, evaluate controls, conduct interviews and deliver clear, defensible audit findings.

Key responsibilities

- Plan and conduct ISO/IEC 27701 internal audits against the applicable standard and agreed audit criteria.
- Assess privacy governance, risk management, PIMS processes and privacy controls.
- Evaluate how organisations manage personally identifiable information (PII), including controller and processor responsibilities.
- Review policies, procedures, risk assessments, records and supporting evidence.
- Conduct remote interviews with management, privacy teams and relevant stakeholders.
- Identify nonconformities, observations and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare professional audit reports with evidence-based findings and actionable recommendations.
- Support client management in understanding audit findings while maintaining auditor independence.
- Apply ISO 19011 auditing principles and relevant privacy regulatory requirements.





Essential requirements

- Recognised ISO/IEC 27701 Lead Auditor qualification.
- Demonstrated experience conducting ISO/IEC 27701 audits or comparable PIMS audits.
- Strong understanding of privacy management systems and ISO/IEC 27001.
- Knowledge of Australian privacy legislation, including the Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles.
- Experience preparing audit plans, collecting objective evidence and writing audit reports.
- Excellent written communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Based in Australia with the ability to work remotely and independently.

Highly regarded

- ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor certification.
- CISA, CISM, CIPM, CIPP/E or other recognised privacy/security qualifications.
- Experience with GDPR and international privacy frameworks.
- Experience auditing SaaS, technology, healthcare, financial services or government organisations.
- Previous experience working with certification bodies or independent assurance providers.

Engagement details

This is not a permanent full time position.

Successful candidates will join Aegentra's specialist contractor network and be engaged on individual projects based on client requirements, availability and relevant experience.

Project scope, deliverables, timelines and remuneration will be agreed before each engagement.

All engagements are subject to confidentiality, conflict-of-interest and independence requirements.
